London, England, October 23, 2009 – The revolutionary new game that is spreading across the nation has some serious players - the national rugby team.
We are referring to SIM rugby, the newest version of the most popular game that England invented but are no longer good at.
What you should know about SIM rugby: It is the familiar rugby in a new avatar; they’ve discarded the ball in favour of the SIM card. All other things are the same, with the new version being more of a free flowing game, players rejoicing that they need not take special care of their shins, the most serious injuries now being cuts in their fingers.
The world owes Robert “Bob” Babbington a great deal of gratitude for dreaming up this fascinating game. As the game’s inventor and now the World President and Global Guardian-in-Chief of the United World-Wide Intra-Continental SIM Rugby Federation (or WPGGCUWWICSRF for short) Bob cannot imagine a life without SIM rugby. He believes there’s tremendous room for improvement to the old oval ball game and that the latest version can take rugby to an altogether higher level not thought possible earlier.
SIM rugby’s origin: One day in 2008, [he can’t remember the exact day], Bob was absentmindedly eating some toast while thinking of the rugby game to be played later that afternoon. Suddenly he became aware that the piece of toast in his hand rather looked like a SIM card in shape. Looking at his real SIM card, he could not help but marvel at its intricate design. That afternoon he took his SIM card to the rugby game. As he and his two friends were warming up, Bob playfully tossed his SIM in the air. It flew like a Frisbee-cum-spaceship-cum-kingfisher. The three teammates just looked at each other and knew that their lives would never be the same again; they had witnessed the birth of something that would turn out sensationally big.
To be proficient in this game, a player needs to be good at passing, because the game is all about passing it on. Bob, generous soul, has already devised some effective passes such as The Billy Pass, The Cheese Pass, The Frisbee Pass and The Giraffe Pass. You can watch his videos to learn how to make these passes successfully; just look them up on the game’s website.
How addictive is this game? Mrs “Bob” moans that since Bob discovered SIM rugby, he has little time for her or the family. She claims that Bob thinks and breathes SIM rugby. She wants her husband back but knows it is next to impossible to separate Bob from his first love.
England are the reigning world champions of SIM rugby, but it won’t be for long. Sooner or later some former Empire outpost is going to play the game better than the nation that invented it.
O2, the mobile phone company, is positioned as the official sponsor of the sport. As Bob added, “It’s a perfect partnership, because the very best SIMS for passing are from O2.”
